June 20, 2007
In addition to today’s Internet Marketing Monitor coverage, we felt these stories were worth pulling out of the multitude of news items for June 20, 2007:
This has apparently been out for a while but this is the first mention of it that I’ve seen. It reminds of IntelliTXT or Kontera in that it scans the content on your site and links words to items at Amazon’s store. Although the service is still in beta, it might be worth checking out if you’re looking for a product-centric advertising system.
Google Reader was the first Google app to get “gearified”. In case you missed it, Google Gears is a browser plugin that allows you to use select Google applications in offline mode. A couple of Google developers got together and, using Google APIs and Gears, created what they’re calling Google Base Reader. Basically… it’s a toned down, offline-capable Google Base searcher. It’s pretty simple and very easy to use. If you’re a frequent Google Base user, it might be worthy of a bookmark for future reference.
Looks like Apple and Google are at it again. Not only does the iPhone stream YouTube… it gets its own “special” version of the YouTube player. If they keep giving me reasons I might just have to get an iPhone myself. - Matt
Wow… $600 million more dollars invested into data centers. Makes you wonder… what is Google going to do with all of this computer power? - Matt
Aaron Wall looks at how some big companies are spawning endless subdomains and buying up smaller, better-ranking companies just to place their results multiple times in Google’s SERPs. It’s a great post and I agree 100% with the point he’s making! - Matt Until we meet again (tomorrow morning)… adios! And have a great night.
