In addition to today’s Internet Marketing Monitor coverage, we felt these stories were worth pulling out of the multitude of news items for June 21, 2007:

Google is expanding the beta for its CPA (cost-per-action) AdWords program “worldwide”. Advertisers who have enabled conversion tracking and have received over 500 conversions from other AdWords campaigns will be automatically added to the beta. Google plans to roll the beta out in waves so keep an eye out for an alert in the AdWords admin to know when the option will be available to you. icon_star.png New Ask.com Commercial: Kato [InsideGoogle]

First we had “chicks with swords”. Now it’s the ladies turn and they’re search for Kato Kaelin. No… I’m not joking. Kato even stars in the new commercial. The work being done at Ask.com is great. The promotion is awful.

icon_star.png Short Descriptions Now Live [Yahoo! Search Marketing Blog]

As promised, short descriptions are now the default on Yahoo! search ads. Any ads that run longer than 70 characters will be hacked off. A quick check of the ads that show for the search “internet marketing” suggest that not all advertisers have made the change. At the time of this post, 3/8 of the sponsored links were truncated with ellipsis. Yahoo! says the longer descriptions are still displayed on a few partner sites. Don’t let Yahoo! decide how your ad is going to end - get in there and make sure your descriptions are short!

Have a great night, folks!
