Search Engine Roundtable is reporting on a tool for Google AdWords customers called Campaign Optimizer.  From Google’s help center documentation:

The Campaign Optimizer is a free AdWords tool designed to help you fine-tune your advertising campaigns. When you run the Campaign Optimizer, we automatically analyze your budget, keywords, and landing page, and create a customized proposal for your campaign. You can then review the proposed changes and accept the ones you want to apply.

One user has posted screenshots of the tool in action and it appears to present you with a list of suggestions that can either be accepted or not.

Do you trust Google’s input on how to spend your money with them?  I’m not suggesting that they’d try to rip you off or mishandle your money, per say.  But when optimizing campaigns who (or what) do you think they’re going to optimize them for?

You?  Customers?  Publishers?  Or clicks?

Yep… I’m guessing clicks, too.

That being said, I’m sure the optimization tool could probably provide you with some good, solid automated advice.  And while I’d never suggest blanket-accepting all of Google’s recommendations, I’d be shocked if there wasn’t something in the report that couldn’t at least send you in the right direction.

What do you think?  Love it?  Hate it?  Avoid it?  Embrace it and run?
