In addition to today’s Internet Marketing Monitor coverage, we felt these stories were worth pulling out of the multitude of news items for July 2, 2007:

Have you noticed a big spike in hits and bandwidth from Yahoo!’s Slurp crawler? We haven’t. But according to SERoundtable, multiple members of multiple forums have. Some of the numbers being reported are quite excessive. Hopefully it’s just a glitch or something. Who knows, though: maybe Slurp has spawned an intelligence and gone insane.Headlines of Note

Google has officially announced their acquisition of communications company GrandCentral. GrandCentral lets you lump all of your phone numbers and voice mails into one account. Using the service, you can choose how and when people contact you. Google is no-doubt planning something with this acquisition. Gmail and GTalk have been mentioned as possible Google services to be enhanced with the service.

Just a quick mention here about GOOG411 (the voice-driven 411 service from Google). You can now tell GOOG411 to “map it” and the service will send you a text message with search results and map links. I’ve been using GOOG411 since first mentioning the service back in April and I have to say that I really like it. This should make it even better.

Have a great night, all! We’ll be back tomorrow!
