In addition to today’s Internet Marketing Monitor coverage, we felt these stories were worth pulling out of the multitude of news items for July 3, 2007:
Keyboard fans and mouse-haters should love this: a cheat sheet of parameters that can be passed through Google to achieve many of the same results that usually take clicks and selections in an advanced search. I’m a big fan of cutting out the mouse as much as
Keeping the momentum is a challenge to all website owners. Bloggers feel the pressure more so than owners of more static sites, perhaps. But this guy’s system of self-encouragement is a great idea that could be adapted to just about any website you’ve got. In a nutshell, he’s created a point system for different actions related to his blog (posting, commenting, etc). He makes a point (no pun intended) to earn 50 points every day through some combination of actions. So, for example, he could reach 50 points by writing a couple of posts and leaving a few a comments… or leaving lots of comments and writing fewer posts. It’s a great system that I think could help a lot of website owners not only keep their personal momentum going, but also would be of benefit to users who come looking for fresh content and/or changes.

And while there is certainly truth and justifiable logic behind his decisions, you can’t help but grin at the superimposed images of your favorite search company bigwigs on movie posters. But like I said… Sullivan has a good reasons for choosing the Hollywood frat houses he’s picked for each search engine. I’ll let you give it a read to see why… Tomorrow will be a lighter-than-usual post day as the Internet Marketing Monitor takes a pause for The United States Independence Day holiday. If you’re in the US, have a great 4th of July. If you’re not… have a great 4th of July anyway! We’ll be back in full swing on Thursday, July 5, 2007.
