In addition to today’s Internet Marketing Monitor coverage, we felt these stories were worth pulling out of the multitude of news items for July 12, 2007:

According to the director of crawl systems at Google, the search company will be rolling out a new meta tag that tells the crawler to stop visiting after a certain time. As SEL points out, this tag would be useful for pages that deal with time-sensitive content, limited time offers, etc.Headlines of Note

icon_star.png May I Suggest… [Yahoo! Search Blog]

Yahoo! has added search suggestions to their main Yahoo.com home page. Much like Google Suggest or the existing suggestions you get from the Yahoo! toolbar, the new feature will drop down a list of possible search queries that could be what you’re looking for. I’ve always loved using this at Google Suggest because it gives me ideas for other ways to find what I’m looking for. I’m glad to know that Yahoo! is adding this to their main index. But as of this writing, the feature has yet to show up at search.yahoo.com (which is what I use). Can I expect that anytime soon, Yahoo?

It’s surprising that it took Big G this long to get rid of those ads. As time goes on I won’t be surprised to see more PPC (pills/porn/casino) ads being taken down. If Google is really serious about protecting its users from malware, scams, etc they’ll almost have to do this. Those PPC sites are just rampant with the bad stuff.

I love that Chris Winfield describes this as “a few tips”. If I’d written “a few” it’d probably have been like… 10. Maybe 12. Regardless, this is one of the best posts I’ve read in a while. Unless I missed one, all 99 tips include a link to a story from somewhere on the web that deals with that issue.  We could all learn a little something from what Winfield has put together here.

Have a great night, folks!
