Link Love FridayIf you read the Internet Marketing Monitor regularly you’re probably familiar with Headlines of Note. It’s a post we do every day (well… most every day) that contains links to “newsworthy” happenings and discussions that are worth sharing… but to which we don’t have enough commentary to add to warrant a full post.

We decided to try something a little different today, and thus… Link Love Friday was born. The idea is similar - links to posts worth reading. The main difference is the lack of commentary and the fact that these links may not all be “newsy”. They could be just about anything that could be linked to Internet marketing!

So without further delay, I present our first Link Love Friday:

Chris Winfield wrote about Slashdot’s new user-voted news service, Firehose. I gave it a look and it’s… interesting. Not quite as idiot-proof as Digg. But then, Slashdot’s audience is generally a little brighter than the Diggerazzi anyway.

Brian Clark wrote a good post about “How to Steal Great Content Ideas“. Theft is at the heart of most innovation - take something that’s already been done and do it differently (hopefully better).

Danny Sullivan found porn in Google’s universal search results. Yes, porn! Granted it’s animal porn. But still… I could have gone my entire life without knowing that act was even possible.

Jennifer Laycock has written a great article about mistakes to avoid when you’re making a PR pitch to a blogger. It’s different than pitching a journalist. A great many journalists can’t or won’t call you a fool in public if you muck things up. A great many bloggers will.

Richard Ball has a great piece about Yahoo!’s strategies for updating their SERPs. I completely agree with him that Yahoo! has the content and the ability to create some really awesome results pages.

Andy Beal suggests that some are jumping at the opportunity to sue Google for YouTube-related copyright infringement before the company adds tools to fight piracy. I think he’s right. But for the record… roach-eating and nipple-gripping crabs aren’t the only things getting pulled by the Japanese group. There are also a lot of quality game shows getting yanked.

Morgan Webb has launched an online show about tech news. Aptly named WebbAlert, the show is short (under 5 minutes)… but pretty entertaining. Valleywag called Michael Arrington out for saying he liked the show and suggested it wasn’t the content itself that had TechCrunch writing about WebbAlert. But that’s just crazy talk. The content is quite good - give it a look!

Until next week… have a great night and an even better weekend! As for me… I’m laying off the SEO until Monday.
