In addition to today’s Internet Marketing Monitor coverage, we felt these stories were worth pulling out of the multitude of news items for August 8, 2007:

icon_star.png How Effective is Google Personalized Search? 57% Say There’s No Difference, or It’s Worse [Read/Write Web]

I’ll be honest here. I don’t use the new-fangled personalized search. I have search history turned off. I log out of all Google services when I’m done with them and I don’t do any searching from a logged in account. What can I say… I like my search results raw. But apparently the vast majority of people aren’t saying personalized search is better. That actually makes me feel a little better about not using it. I’d hate to think I was missing a revolution or something.Headlines of Note

icon_star.png Browse Profiles! Find new blogs to read! [Blogger Buzz]

Today must be “Things I’ve Never Done” day. I’ve never played around with a Blogger profile, either. Why? Because I avoid Blogger as much as I can. Don’t get me wrong… there are some great sites hosted at Blogger. But I go directly to them… I don’t browse around for them. But apparently that’s now possible with new additions made by the Blogger team. Interests, locations, industries, etc are now clickable. Doing so will take you to a page filled with other bloggers who’ve also tagged themselves the same way. But here’s my question: what the heck did those tags do before? If they weren’t links… what did they do? I dunno… maybe I’m just used to being able to click on tags… and I figured Google got that memo a long time ago.

icon_star.png Get ready for a new Live.com - Windows Live Home [LiveSide]

Is Live.com about to get a facelift? Tetuya Onoda, the Windows Live Director, says it is… and LiveSide has a first glimpse. The new Live.com appears to pull several Windows Live services together, including Hotmail, Spaces, and OneCare. I’ll have to see the final product before passing official judgment… but it doesn’t look half bad. If it works I’m betting Microsoft will have a hit on their hands.

Can you believe the week is half over already?!?! Have a great Wednesday evening, folks!
