Microsoft is building a new Live.com start page piece by piece - but you won’t see it on live.com just yet. To see the direction Microsoft is going with Live.com, you’ll have to head over to home.live.com:

I say “piece by piece” because everything you see here now was not here yesterday. And as some of have noted, new functionality is being discovered all the time. Yesterday, for example, the Hotmail Inbox view didn’t work (it was perpetually loading). Today, as you can see, the new start page correctly shows your Inbox.

This new look is very much in line with earlier reported enhancements set to roll out across the board at Live.com. I assume at some point Live.com itself will see the new look and feel - which has been spread to other Windows Live properties over the past few weeks.
