Think there’s nothing worse than stealing content from other sites to publish on your own? Think again! As John Chow just found out, some people combine stupid with stupider and end up with a really funny / sad story.

Apparently, John received an order through ReviewMe and went to check out the site in question. But something wasn’t right. He recognized some of the posts. Had he been to that site before? No. Not even close.

The same guy who had just ordered a $400 review from John Chow had stolen some of his posts from John’s website! So he basically paid $400 to get caught! How great is that??

So what I want to know now is:

  1. Why can’t people just write their own stuff? The rest of us do it… you can too!
  2. Why don’t people give proper credit? Even if a post “inspires” you (as this guy said), credit should always be given for other people’s hard work.

And a little tip to future content-takers out there:  don’t PAY the sites you steal from to come look at your site.  That’s just ridiculously stupid.  But, I have to admit, it makes for a very funny story.
