I've been talking an awful lot about all of the new technologies emerging as major advertising avenues: video… mobile… local. I've been continually asking you over and over again… what are you doing to embrace and respond to the changing online marketing field? One company has created an entirely new department solely dedicated to taking advantage of these new areas of marketing, Internet Retailer reports. Avenue A | Razorfish created its new Advanced Marketing Solutions department to handle the growing task of finding new ways to get the company's message out to the new media masses. In addition, the company created a new director of emerging media and video position. This is yet another sign that what I've been talking about here is going to pass. These emerging medias are set to go mainstream (if they haven't already) and compete, if not replace, existing media. I know every company isn't in a position to create new departments and new managers. But it might not be a bad idea to have at an employee or two in your marketing team who focus on these new medias. And if you do have the resources to create a new team, follow Avenue A | Razorfish's example and do it. A few years from now you'll be thanking me.
