It seems like Google can't stop adding to Google Docs & Spreadsheets.  Today we've seen several new features announced.  One is the aforementioned functions added to pull information from Google search into a spreadsheet and the ability to return to previous versions of a document.

The last feature has to do with publishing your documents.  With the new publishing features, you can stick URLs to documents and spreadsheets in websites, emails, instant messages… whatever.  The URL allows people to view your work without having to sign in to their own Google Account.  The Docs & Spreadsheets Blog announcement even says publishing is available in HTML, PDF, and RSS feed format.

This could be an awesome new way to share information.  Previously, people with whom you were sharing had to log in to Google (or create an account) to view documents and spreadsheets you sent them.  Removing that requirement opens the possibility of sharing your work with a lot more people.

They can add features all day long, they’re still indexing your data. Not only that, but believe it or not, “live data” to a spreadsheet is not new or confined to Google spreadsheets. We’ve been doing it in Fortune 100 companies for *years* (although not in a web spreadsheet, until earlier this year). In fact we showed Google just this at Office 2.0 back in Oct.

We also support over 180 Functions.

Oh yeah, it’s free too!

Comments welcome.
