Usability is a big aspect of any product or service… but then you already knew that, didn't you? I've written about the importance of having usable products on more than one occasion. In those instance I was talking about website and/or service design but the rules apply elsewhere. One of the ways you can extend your website or service is with the use of gadgets and widgets. But for some, the idea of code and scripts is scary business, regardless of how easy it is to implement. To help make the creation of content for Google Desktop easier, the Desktop team has recently updated the service's accompanying documentation. Documentation is essential to learning how to use Google Desktop to create custom components for your customers and the new version promises to improve usability. And, according to the Google Desktop blog, those improvements aren't done yet. If you haven't explored gadgets and widgets yet, you've got even more incentive to do so now. Consider it an early Christmas present from Google.
