ClickZ has posted some great tables of data showing who is using online advertising, the type of ads they're using, and how many impressions those ads are reveiving each month.

Some hightlights of the data include:

  • Financial Services are receiving the most impressions each month, followed closely by Web Media
  • Use of internet advertising by the Consumer Goods industry increased almost 72% from October 06 to Novemeber 06
  • Flash ads were the #1 most popular form of advertising;  #2 was Standard Image & Text Link;  #3 was Standard Image Alone
  • Even though impressions dropped by almost half in November, eBay is receiving more impressions for its sponsored links by far
  • Impressions for cheapflights.com increased 215%
  • Impressions for Wal-Mart increased almost 93%

The tables are full of information that should be of interest to anyone advertising online.  If your company or business is part of the consumer goods sector, for example, you can compare where your advertising dollars are going to where the rest of the industry is spending theirs.  If you're just getting into online advertising the information could show you were successes are being found for your industry.
