Ever wonder what Google does with all of that money it's sitting on? Some of it goes to R&D, hardware purchases, and various other business-related endeavors. And some of it is given away. The Google Checkout Blog announced yesterday that the search company would chip in $10 for every donation of $30 or more made to one of its nonprofit partners. Not only are they offering discounts for purchases over $30 from for-profit partners, but now they're offering to add money to donations for nonprofits. With millions of potential takers on the offer, Google is willing to front a lot of money to the various causes using Google Checkout. If you were planning on making a donation as part of your holiday shopping routine, this might be a good way to make your dollars go a little farther.
