What do you do when you realize your current webpage design just isn’t working?  What should you do when you’ve got the traffic but are still missing the conversion?  As eSylvan discovered, a site re-design might be just what your company needs to turn more browsers into buyers.  MarketingSherpa’s case study of the eSylvan re-design showcases exactly what the company did, how they decided what changes to make, and how those changes ultimately paid off.

The case study, which is worth every penny of the $9 download fee, highlights the three-tiered approach that eSylvan took to not only revamping the look and feel of their site, but also the content itself.  eSylvan’s Director of Marketing talks about the numerous tests and panel discussions that the company conducted on their new ideas.  There are even before, after, and in-between screenshots of the various revisions eSylvan made included with the article.

So how did the project work out for eSylvan?  Incoming calls increased by 70%.  Content views rose by more than 50%.  Page visits doubled.  Conversion shot up to between 50 – 70% (as compared to 10% for other outsourced campaigns the company launched).  It’s amazing how a simple re-design can change sales.

None of the changes could have been made without the extensive testing done by eSylvan.  This can’t be stressed enough.  Testing is critical to any company’s success.  Test… test again… and test a third time.

You won’t be sorry you did.  I’m sure eSylvan is glad they did.

Change A Little… Change A Lot on December 5th, 2006 at 9:47 am #

[…] If you’re not getting the results you’d expect from your website, a little site redesign or tweak might be in order.  But how do you know what kind of change to make?  How do you know where the problem lies?  And what sort of impact will changes have on the success of your site?  These are all questions that anyone thinking about a site redesign should consider.  While it’s true that making changes in the way your site looks or works can have dramatic positive benefits, the opposite is also true:  the wrong kind of change can actually make a website perform less successfully than it previously was.  […]

[…] eSylvan:  eSylvan knew its website was in desperate need of a redesign.  A lot of ideas were floating around so the company decided to do some multivariate testing with three different landing page designs.  In addition, they held panel discussions and in-person testing with the three redesigns.  Ultimately, they were able to optimize their landing page with a completely new look based on all the testing.
