What would you think about an airport terminal that looked like a grass hut from Gilligan’s Island?  Have you ever been to Planet Hollywood?  After all the flash that gets you into the door, would you be surprised to find yourself eating off of paper plates?  Maybe even a little disappointed?

Your website is no different.  Don’t disappoint your visitors with a crummy landing page.  Don’t promise awesome products and then deliver paper plates (unless, of course, your business IS paper plates).  What makes a landing page stand out in the crowd?

Luca Catania had a few ideas that could help.  Twenty, to be exact.  In his post called “The Importance of Landing Pages – 20 Guidelines”, he covers all the bases of creating successful, product-focused landing pages.

As Catania points out, keywords and targeted ads don’t do much good if they all point to a lousy landing page.
