If you're taking advantage of Google Maps on your website, this bit of news might be especially important for you.  I've discussed using KML in your Google Maps before.  But did you know that those KML files can help drive traffic to your site when people do a Google search?  If you include the KML files in your sitemap, Google will crawl them and send people your way when they search for information in your KML files.

I think this is some great news.  In fact, this is one of the best announcements from Google in weeks.  Publishing Google Maps in KML format now has a two-fold benefit:  it allows your information to be used in Google Earth and it makes your map-specific information searchable in Google.  This is huge.

Do you know why?
