What would you do if you found out that Google and Microsoft were going to be flying over your city to take high-resolution imagery for their mapping services? Most people would go about their day without so much as a glance up to the sky. But the people over at SwiftCity.com decided they wanted to let the world know that Sydney Australia was looking back up at Google & Microsoft. Using paper and skewers, several friends built a huge eyeball in the middle of a park, complete with… you guessed it… a sign for the website. They woke up at 4 am, dealt with rain, sprinklers, the sun, and a park ranger, and no doubt went home tired… all to get their name (and eyeball) on Google and Microsoft's maps. I think it's a great idea! And it looks like it was a blast. Thinking outside of the box never hurts and, in my cases, pays off much more than playing it safe. Congrats, SwiftCity, on an excellent idea.
