If you use Gmail and you receive a lot of document attachments, listen up.  The Google Docs and Spreadsheets team announced yesterday that Gmail and Docs had received a little integration attention.  Whenever you get a document or spreadsheet attachment in Gmail, you'll be given the option to "Open as a Google Document."  In a nutshell, that means Gmail will hand the file off to Docs & Spreadsheets.  It will then be imported, added to your list of documents, and displayed inside Docs & Spreadsheets.

I think this is a great move for Google.  Not only is the integration of products good for "the Google experience", but it also introduces users to services they might not have ever used before.  I'm sure there are tons of Gmail users that don't know anything about Docs & Spreadsheets.  But the next time they get a document attachment they might just find out about it.  So Google wins on both the email front and the online productivity front.

And it's okay for users.  After all, Docs & Spreadsheets is a fairly good product.
