Will Google's dMarc Debacle Sour Future Deals (Inside Google)
- I really liked this article for two reasons: 1) It brought up a point I hadn't considered before and 2) paints an even picture of what might have "gone wrong" with the dMarc deal. I think that other business will be weary of Google in a buyout situation… to a degree. Like the author says, folks like money. But a lot of people would still jump at the chance to have their companies join the Google steamroller. Even if that means taking less money up front.
The Story of Sergey Brin (Moment)
- I'm not a huge fan of the "Behind the Music" or "True Hollywood Story" type stuff. That being said, this in-depth look at the Google co-founder does have some interesting information about a few behind-the-scenes Google-related subjects. There's a lot of "True Hollywood Story" stuff in it, too. But if you scan well, it's quite possible to learn an interesting thing or two about the #1 search engine in the world.
- I thought this was a pretty useful comparison of StumbleUpon to several other popular online services that share something in common with SU. And it also illustrates the beauty of StumbleUpon: it shares things in common with Digg, Google, MySpace, Del.icio.us, and Amazon.com… to name a few. This is the first in a series of posts written from an interview with SU CEO Garrett Camp.
- Are the recent changes to Google's AdWords program just a smokescreen? Are they simply being hyped to hide the fact that Google is planning to hike bid prices? This is a different perspective on the quality score and algorithm changes taking place over at the Googleplex over the next couple of weeks. One thing the author missed, though, is that the quality of the content behind the ad (which is mentioned several times in the post) is actually part of the quality score. An interesting read, none the less.
