World Usability Day is November 14 (that's today) and the Official Google Blog has a post about the techniques Google uses to make sure their sites and tools are as user friendly as possible.  The post talks about various tests and enhancement methods that the search company employs to improve the usability of their products.

Most of us don't have eye trackers to sit potential customers in front of to study or teams of usability experts at our disposal.  But that doesn't mean we can't strive for better usability in our sites and products.  Take a little time today and look for areas of your site that could stand some usability improvement.  Start a test today and see if making a change or two affects your results.

No website or tool can be perfect.  But if we all spend a little time looking for ways to make our products better the end results benefit everyone.
