In addition to today's Internet Marketing Monitor coverage, we felt these stories were worth pulling out of the multitude of news items for March 22, 2007:

To promote the new Nissan Altima with push-button ignition, the car company will launch a campaign that includes 20,000 "lost" key rings.  The keys will be purposely left in bars, sporting venues, and other public spots and each will have a key chain with the message: "If found, please do not return.  My Next Generation Nissan Altima has Intelligent Key with push-button ignition, and I no longer need these."  The tags also have a code that finders can use via text message or website to enter into a contest.  I love stories like this.  Inventive, unique marketing campaigns really make your brand stand out.  I already own a Nissan Altima.  But if I didn't, I'd at least be curious to give them a look after finding one of those key chains.  Would you?headlines of note logo.jpg

icon_star.png  Why the Age of Your Domain Name is Important for SEO  [10e20]

The moral of this story is simple:  even if you decide to shut a website down, keep the domain for future use.  Over time, domains earn trust in the search engines.  That trust isn't easy or quick to come by… so throwing away your domain is akin to starting over at step one.  Even if you don't decide to reuse the domain, hang on to it.  You never know when you might need it again.

icon_star.png  SEO for WordPress - The Complete Guide  [Jim Westergren via Link Building Blog]

Westergren has compiled an excellent resource for getting the most search engine optimization out of your WordPress powered blog.  The guide is regularly updated to include new information relevant to new versions of WordPress too (it was just revised on March 17).  The Complete Guide covers everything from title tags to plugins.  This is a must-read for WordPress users.

Google has added its Google Checkout service to the list of available referral services for AdSense users.  Website owners get $1 for every new Checkout customer they refer that spends $10 (before tax and shipping) within 90 days.  The folks you refer also get a $10 bonus to put toward their purchase (the dollar amount of the bonus will change periodically).

Tha.. tha… that's alll she wrote, folks!  See you on Friday!
