In addition to today's Internet Marketing Monitor coverage, we felt these stories were worth pulling out of the multitude of news items for April 11, 2007:

Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, and Ask have all announced support for a new way to have your sitemaps auto-discovered by search crawlers.  Using a little snippet of code, you can now include the location of your sitemap in your site's robots.txt file and the major crawlers will find it.  Separate announcements here:  Google | Yahoo | Microsoft | Ask.com   Headlines of Note

A lot of sites are covering SES NY this week (and that's why there's so little news… in case you were wondering).  Search Engine Roundtable's is my favorite.  They're covering each presentation with an almost play-by-play recap of exactly what went on, who said what, and a lot of the information being presented.  If you're stuck at home while everyone else is playing in NY, SERoundtable will keep you up to speed on what's going on.

icon_star.png  Brands Create Own Shows - Cheaper than TV Ads  [MarketingVOX]

MarketingVOX is reporting on an article in USA Today that says some advertisers are starting to build entire television shows / series from which to build up an ad campaign.  All of us have seen a character in a commercial that we've thought was memorable (Geico has several).  Well some advertisers are cross-populating their television commercials with actors from television shows that they themselves are producing.  Interesting concept.  And it seems to be working for some.  I wonder if this means a further blurring of the lines between content and advertising on television?

Wednesday is behind us.  It's all downhill from here!  See you tomorrow!
