I was talking to a friend of mine this weekend and an interesting conversation about linking came up. We both have very different approaches to linking out to other sites. Unless my link would contribute to maliciousness, link bait, or otherwise have unsavory side effects, I’ll link out to just about anything. My friend, on the other hand, won’t link out to another site unless he knows the person behind the site. There are a lot of linking approaches that fall somewhere in between, too. Some people will link anywhere, regardless of “side effects”. Some people only link out to a certain network or select group. And still others will only link out if they’re getting a trackback, a mention on the site, or some other form of compensation for their link. I’d like to find out about the linking habits of some of our Internet Marketing Monitor readers. What kind of linker are you? Vote, leave a comment, or both. I’m curious to see where folks fall in this continuum. If an option that fits you isn’t in the poll, add it to the comments.
