In addition to today’s Internet Marketing Monitor coverage, we felt these stories were worth pulling out of the multitude of news items for May 7, 2007:

Google has added earnings content, historical prices, portfolios, news feeds, and integration with Google News to their financial service. Google Finance is shaping up to be a decent service and these additions make it that much better.Headlines of Note

icon_star.png SEM expert Jill Whalen on organic search engine optimization, Google, and more [Pandia Search Engine News]

Pandia offers a great interview with Whalen on a wide range of SEO topics. I found her take on Google to be particularly interesting. She, like myself, does not inherently trust Google with all of her information. She also suggests that, while Google may not “punish” websites who employ SEO techniques, they may very well “scrutinize” those sites a little more closely. Yet another reason to keep your SEO tactics well within in the guidelines of what’s acceptable and what’s not acceptable. Overall a great interview with loads of great advice. If you read anything from Headlines of Note today, make sure it’s this one!

icon_star.png Photobuck goes to MySpace [Valleywag]

Remember several weeks back when MySpace blocked Photobucket content? Photobucket and MySpace users alike were really miffed by the whole thing. Eventually MySpace flipped the switch and Photobucket once again worked on the social powerhouse. But it’s interesting: although MySpace is only now offering money for the service, when they blocked Photobucket back then, they sorta proved that they “owned” Photobucket anyway.

icon_star.png Legal troubles mount for YouTube [C|Net]

Viacom was first. Now NBC and Viacom are filing a best-friends-forever brief saying that they support a journalist who is suing YouTube. English football organization Football Association Premier League is suing YouTube. Oh… and let’s not forget the Thai government. Google is all about going to court against Viacom. But how much are they spending to do so? And how much will they be spending on all of these lawsuits? Kinda makes you wonder if YouTube was really worth the money, time, hassle, legal problems, bandwidth, etc. I’m not necessarily saying it’s not. I’m just saying…

icon_star.png The Psychology of Search [eWhisper]

My formal education is in psychology (as well as a lot of what I study and read about a home). So when I saw that someone had combined my love of psychology with my love of the search I got excited. And luckily I wasn’t disappointed! This is a great look at how someone searching for something online might work their way through the entire process: for the initial search to landing pages to conversions… and everything in between. The best bit from this post is a point made toward the end. When the entire process flows, without major breaks or interruptions, conversions are more likely.

Just in case you missed it I wanted to remind all you WordPress users about our brand new Keywords plug-in.
