Google today announced the first round of winners in its Google Enterprise Search Superstars contest.  The contest is open to those who have implemented Google search technology and made a difference in the way their organizations do business.

We've talked about site search before, right?  There are several options for implementing a search feature on your website.  Some pre-made search functions are available and many content management applications can provide something similar.

While I'm sure it won't come as a surprise to many people, Google has a couple of options for you to choose from as well.

The Google Mini is a hardware + software solution that provides the search technology of Google in small, easy to set up package.  Several versions are available depending on the quantity of documents that your company needs to be able to search.  For REALLY big search jobs, Google also offers the Google Search Appliance, another hardware + software package.  Able to search more documents, the Google Search Appliance is geared toward larger companies with millions of documents.

Whether you go with the Google Mini / Search Appliance or not, site search is an important aspect of any website.  The Google solutions are but a few of the options available.  Research those options and choose the site search that's best for your company.
