When people talk about meta tags they normally focus on a couple of the “important” ones. Today, for my Google algorithm post, I wanted to ask you a question that will (hopefully) illustrate the importance of an often-ignored bit of meta information: the author tag.

Is the author tag important? Does it matter?

Let me answer those questions with another question: when you read a book… don’t you like to know who wrote it?
