Andy Beal asks a good question over at Marketing Pilgrim: “Is Google Buying Companies to Add to Google Pack?” Beal, in response to Google’s acquisition of GreenBorder, is dead on with his post. I agree 100% with his assessment of Google’s possible motive behind the purchase: build an in-house set of software to replace the third-party stuff in the Google Pack and, in effect, take the whole desktop over. One download… all the essential software… all from Google. I’m still waiting for Google to add an online storage product to the mix - that would be nice! Watch this space… I think Google is just getting started with its “outside the box” (inside the Google Pack) purchases. - Matt
