IMM-Keyword WordPress Plugin
Any good webmaster knows the importance of meta tags to a site’s successful rank in the search engines. The problem is that WordPress doesn’t make it easy to modify the meta tags on your site. We searched for a solution to the problem and found that the existing ones were either: 1) old and outdated or 2) more complex than they should be.
The IMM-Keyword plugin was created to give WordPress users an easy way to add keywords to their WordPress-powered site without the need to modify any existing codes or templates. The IMM-Keywords plug-in lets you specify post-specific keywords each time you publish new content. By adding a small field to the WordPress Write Page / Write Post admins, you can specify exactly what you’d like to show up in the keywords section of your meta tags. In addition, you can define a set of “default” keywords that appear on special pages and the main index.
The IMM-Keyword plug-in is simplicity defined: simply upload, activate, and presto! No editing code… no modifying of templates. The IMM-Keyword plug-in does all the work for you. When you hit “Publish”, the plug-in will insert properly formatted keyword meta tags into your post. All you have to do is supply the keywords!
VERSION 1.0 (released May 7, 2007)
MAJOR FEATURES
- WordPress 2.1 compatibility
- Option to supply “default” keywords to be applied to dynamic or special pages (like the main index page)
- If you forget to put commas between keywords, the plug-in steps in and does it for you (more information below)
- Integration with WordPress admin makes the plug-in seem like a natural part of WordPress
SCREENSHOTS
INSTALLATION AND USE
- Download the plug-in zip file and extract the “IMM-Keywords.php” file
- Upload the “IMM-Keywords.php” file to your WordPress plug-ins directory (usually /wp-content/plugins)
- Go to the Plug-ins page and activate IMM-Keywords
- Go to Options > IMM-Keywords to set your default keywords
- Add keywords to each post
NOTE: If you put commas in your keyword list, the plug-in will leave them as-is. If you don’t put commas, the plug-in will insert commas between each word.
This is important to note because a lot of us don’t just use keywords - we use phrases. If you want to use phrases, be sure to separate each phrase with a comma. Otherwise, the plug-in will stick a comma between each word.
KNOWN ISSUES
